[edit] Trunk Light

The Trunk light was way to dim to be at all usable. If you decide to add some lighting. You should be able to find a wide variety of different styles and colours for this mod. Most computer stores that have computer case modding items will sell these items. They can be had very cheap and it is amazing how much better the trunk is lit up with them.

[edit] Tools you will need

  • Small flat screwdriver or trim tool.
  • Wire Cutters and strippers.

[edit] Items you need

  • Cold Cathode Kit - I purchased mine at Xoxide they have a wide selection of colours and styles. This kit was $6.99 plus shipping. Very cheap.
  • Couple of Scotchlok type wiretaps - These can be found at most automotive parts stores such as AutoZone, Candian Tire, PartSource.

[edit] Procedure

  • Remove left inner quarter panel lining in trunk.
  • Disconnect trunk light from trunk light wiring harness.
  • I had to peel away a bit of the tape wrapping on the harness to expose enough of the wiring to tap into.
  • Cut the existing computer plug off of the ballast leaving you with around 2' of feed wire for the ballast. This wire can be extended if needed. The wires that come from the cold cathode tubes may not be extended as they are made from special high voltage wire.
  • Tap the Red wire to the positive wire on harness and the Black wire to the negative wire on the harness.
  • Mount your inverter and lights where you like.
Close up of location of inverter and lighttubes.
Close up of location of inverter and lighttubes.
I used the velcro so everything can be easily swapped out in case of failure.
  • Route the wires for the cold cathode tubes as you like.
